Eurovision Weekend!

Published Categorized as Misc

Is anybody else watching Eurovision this weekend? The Boy and I like to watch the semi-finals every year for some good silly fun. My favourite so far is Russia’s Buranovskiye Babushki who have a combined age of over 500, sing mostly in their local dialect Udmurt (with an English chorus) and wear the most gorgeous embroidered traditional outfits that have apparently been handed down through generations. Their act also involves a giant revolving oven. What’s not to love?

We’ve been playing a little drinking game this year, adapting it here and there as we go.

Drink when:

  • there’s pyrotechnics
  • you see a panty shot
  • there’s an instrument that isn’t actually being played
  • the hosts speak in unison
  • there’s a drink-worthy stage prop, such as a giant revolving oven or Jedward’s water fountain

This actually leads to more drinking than you would think (the pyrotechnics alone account for a lot), but if you have any suggestions I’ll add them to the list for tonight’s viewing!
