Bilbao was a short stop on our Eurotrip after San Sebastian. I managed to get sick (again!) so we didn’t do much more than wander along the river and admire the lovely architecture. We considered going into the famous Guggenheim Museum, but not being big fans of Modern Art decided instead to just admire it from the outside. I did however love Jeff Koons’ giant flower puppy sitting outside! Another highlight was Estación de Santander, the main train station with its gorgeous art nouveau facade.
- I have never been able to bring myself to be excited about any kind of donut, including churros – they simply aren’t my favourite dessert. However the churros that we bought from a random food truck on a bridge near the Guggenheim were somehow magical! They were freshly fried up for us, rolled up in paper and sprinkled with sugar. I was feeling sick and cranky and it was drizzling, but these things made me feel a million times better.
I wish I’d had more of a chance to explore Bilbao, but those churros will always have a special place in my heart!
