Happy Easter Weekend!

handmade clay bunnies, from a few years ago!Happy long weekend everyone! I’ve been pretty productive so far, doing a good clean of the apartment and going for a quick bike ride. The rest of my weekend will be spent doing a little work (sometimes I really wish I could be paid for long weekends!), some sewing, some mending, and lots of photo editing. I don’t have any Easter eggs but I do have a block of Black & Gold 70% dark organic chocolate, which I personally think is much better! Have a good one guys!

Weekend Allsorts

Boxing and then a vegan breakfast at Source Foods. The Boy has written a review here – in my opinion, great for the warm fuzzies of eating locally sourced produce, though not my favourite breakfast place. I’ve had a fantastic lamb burger there though, so will definitely be returning for lunches or coffee.

Sorting through winter clothes and doing some maintenance. Should probably have done all this before packing it all away (I’m hoping it’s not too late to dry clean my winter coats…), but better late than never right? It was a quiet weekend so I spent some time darning and patching up my wool cardigans. One had some nasty tears from not paying attention with my engagement ring, so rather than trying to darn them I just sewed on some heart shaped felt patches. Will post more on that later!

Finished Project 333 and finally got to wear one of my new purchases from Singapore! I’m going to pretend I’m a fashion blogger and list the items I wore: pleated red dress from Wicked Laundry; fake pearl earrings from somewhere on Etsy; navy Country Road cardigan (not pictured); black leather flats from Joanne Mercer (also not pictured).

My hair is growing unbelievably fast. I’ve been taking some photos here and there to keep track, and there’s a marked difference just within the last couple of weeks! I like to think I’ll have enough hair to do a cute pixie cut ala post-Hermione Emma Watson by my birthday in July, but that might be wishful thinking.

The Boy and I went to Angove Street Festival, which is always fun (if incredibly crowded!). I don’t remember seeing this wall of street art the last time I went to the festival – maybe it’s new? There were lots of cool interactive art exhibitions, food stalls, handmade stuff and secondhand stalls. I was SO tempted to buy some more cute dresses from the vintage stalls, but managed to hold myself back. We did end up getting some awesome Argentinian barbecued meats though – I felt so sorry for the other food stalls around it, how can you compete with Argentinian BBQ?

Hope everyone else had a great weekend! This week is a nice short one – I have a massive photo backlog, so hopefully I’ll have some time to catch up on it!

Just another weekend

Hope everyone had an excellent weekend! I certainly did. Besides getting my head shaved, we threw an ice-cream party (more on that later), I checked out Sculptures by the Sea, met up with friends for a Sunday sesh, then saw La Dolce Vita at the new Rooftop Cinema. Please excuse the Instagram photos – sometimes life just isn’t compatible with carrying around a big DSLR.

By the way, I’m chisathechi on Instagram if you’d like to follow me, or you can take a look at my photos online on Instagrid.

Shaven!

Unfortunately we had to break the rule of before/after pics and had bad lighting for the 'after'

It was just a small gathering at our place, and Miss T had all the gear and expertise for shaving my head. Down to a number 1, as per my promise for raising over $3000! I think everyone was a little surprised that I wasn’t upset to have my hair removed – but I’ve had a while to get used to the idea, and I’m so so pleased with how generous everyone has been and how much I was able to raise, so it all feels very worth it.

Also, to be honest…. I actually don’t mind it. I usually cut my hair short (though not this short) in the summer, so my long hair was getting very annoying. I will miss it, but I won’t miss spending forever drying it, brushing it, cleaning up fallen hairs in the bathroom and constantly searching for hair ties to keep it up and out of my face. This shaven look isn’t a cut I would choose for myself, but I don’t think it looks too bad on me (I’ve had several people complimenting me on my aesthetically shaped head). Obviously it’s going to take some getting used to, but I think it’s a look I can work. Also – although I’m probably the squarest person ever – a woman shaving their head is definitely a very visible statement, so I’m feeling like a bit of a rebel!

I just want to give another HUGE thanks to everyone who sponsored and supported me – the final total is $3333.50, which is more than three times my original goal amount. Everyone has been extraordinarily generous, and I’m so  proud to have such wonderful friends :) If you haven’t sponsored and want to, I believe the page is still taking donations.

World’s Greatest Shave: how short?

If you saw my World’s Greatest Shave page in the beginning, you might be wondering why my goal amount keeps jumping up. I’ve been so blown away by everyone’s support and sponsorship, and surpassed my original $1000 very quickly. Not long ago I then went past the new $2000 goal.

The Leukaemia Foundation suggests that women usually shave their hair to a #3 or #4, which is what I was planning on doing originally. However… if I can reach my new goal of $3000, I’ll go the shortest I can go without getting a razor down to the skin – a #1. That’s really, really short. It’s going to add quite a bit of extra time to how long it will take for my hair to grow long again. But if I can raise that much money, I’m more than happy to do it!

If you haven’t sponsored me already, you have just under a week left! Just go to my World’s Greatest Shave page and click the sponsor button. If you donate online it will send you a receipt automatically, which is tax deductible and all that jazz. I’ll be shaving my head on Saturday the 17th, and will post photos (maybe a video?) afterwards.

Also, a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far:
